My Dear Friends,

When we sit down at the Seder table this week, there are far more people present than the number of seats at the table. Our parents, grandparents and all those we carry in our hearts join us as we transmit their stories to the next generations. The seder is when our ancestors meet our descendants. It is a spiritual bridge spanning generations and a timeless testament to our shared destiny.

On Pesach, we affirm our faith in the Divine Providence that has guided us throughout our history on all of our travels, in Egypt, Babylonia, Syria, Poland, the United States and modern day Israel. Our stories intertwine, forming a tapestry of faith, resilience and purpose. Though each family has its unique tale, there is a common thread that unites us all: hope. Pesach is a festival of hope, a declaration of faith in the future, and an affirmation of the eternity of our people.

I personally experience this sense of hope every time I walk through our campuses and interact with our students. Our students blend character and kindness with deep learning and a commitment to leadership. There is almost no experience more encouraging about the Jewish future than feeling the vitality and energy of these young future leaders in their formative years on our vibrant campuses. Everyday at YU is infused with this spirit of Pesach, as we transmit our stories to the ones who will carry us forward with confidence, responsibility and joy.

May this Pesach fill your hearts with hope and gratitude, and may the blessings of the Almighty shine upon you and your loved ones.

My warmest wishes,

Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman
